Meteorite

Sabtu, 23 Februari 2013

A massive attack from outer space to earth isn't foreign. Every day of the attack from outer space is always the case, don't you believe? In a day approximately 100-1000 tonnes of material meteorite hit the earth. The materials in the form of dust-sized objects up to several kilometers, moves into the earth at speeds greater than 11 km / det.meteorit. Objects greater will slow down after entering the earth's atmosphere, but still it will hit the earth at high speed. Earth's atmosphere will cause surface material melted and crust begins to form. There was also fragmented into smaller pieces which then turned into a meteor rain. Objects this small can eventually arrive at earth safely without undergoing any change.

*. Division of Meteorites
In terms of discovery, divided into two groups of meteorite falls and finds. The group is a group of meteorite falls were seen falling and was found shortly after his fall on the earth's surface. While the group finds a group of objects are found and identified as a meteorite, which has fallen on earth tens, hundreds or even thousands of years ago. Iron meteorite is far more common in the group finds. For researchers the planet, the most valuable meteorite falls are the ones that are found immediately after falling to earth, due to natural contamination due to the weather and the environment is still very low

*.How is an object identified as a Meteorite?
An object that falls on earth isn't protected from the weather. As a result, the surface of the object will experience erosion and ultimately difficult to differentiate from the surrounding rocks. But on the other hand, a large chunk of iron is not often found on the surface of the earth. If there is a dense metal objects and solid with dark visions are found, we can be sure the object is a meteorite chunks. In addition, the changes due to the influence of weather on metal objects will not be the same as the usual rock and it will maintain it's original condition for longer time intervals. The factors used to identify a meteor is an object as far as possible to maintain the appearance and condition of the original, and can survive in the environment.

There are two types of regions where the meteorite finds is that, in the desert, and antarctica. In the desert, the process of change due to weather occurs very slowly, so that the meteorite will be able to maintain the initial conditions in a long time. Meanwhile in Antarctica which has a thick layer of ice (up to several kilometers), silicate or iron object near the surface can be confirmed as meteorites.

Meteorite itself is divided into three classes of stony meteorite, stony-iron Meteorites, and iron Meteorites.
